The class begins with a dynamic warm-up focused on body awareness, control, and developing a versatile
movement vocabulary. Through guided exercises, dancers will explore alignment, articulation, and the
foundational techniques that support expressive movement.
In the second half, we will dive into the repertoire of Edward Clug, offering a deeper understanding of his
unique choreographic language. You’ll have the opportunity to embody his distinctive style and artistic
nuances, enriching both your technical and interpretive skills.
Aya Misaki, born in Japan, is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, and repetiteur currently based in Den
Haag, the Netherlands. She was a part of Nederlands Dans Theater 2 from 2015 to 2018, performing pieces
by choreographers such as Leon & Lightfoot, Johan Inger, Edward Clug, Medhi Walerski, Jiri Pokorny, Marina
Mascarell, and more.
Since 2018, she has been a freelance artist, collaborating with choreographers like Samir Calixto, Wubkje
Kuindersma, Dimo Milev, Antonin Comestaz, and David Middendorp in various projects across the
Netherlands. Her outstanding artistry earned her a nomination for Piket Kunstprijzen Dans in 2019.
She also serves as a repetiteur for Edward Clug and Jiri Pokorny, staging their works at prestigious venues
like Czech National Theater, Staats Theater Nuernberg, Slovene National Theater, National Moravian Silesian
Theater in Ostrava, Aalto Ballett Essen, Theater Osnabrück, and more.
In addition to, she conducted master classes at notable institutions such as Summer Intensive NDT,
Summer Course Conservatory in Den Haag, Palermo in Danza, Winter Camp in Bucharest, Rise dance event
in Korea and Dance Area Milan.
Beyond her contributions in Europe, she is actively involved in dancing, choreographing her own works, and
organizing dance events and workshops in Japan
