Before OUT.LIERS reaches its final stage, dancers meet in the Preselection — the round where the lineup for the final takes shape. But true to the spirit of OUT.LIERS, this isn't a classic competition built around "better than" or "who wins." Here, dancers from across styles — Urban, Contemporary, Flow, Technique, Freestyle — share the floor to explore movement, encounter, and creation together, even as they battle for a place in the final.

The Preselection is open to all levels and styles, offering a stage for rising talent and bold energy. It's a space for those who dare to open up without losing themselves — where dancing is as much about connecting as it is about competing. Every round brings a mix of skill, spontaneity, and presence, as dancers respond to the music, to each other, and to the audience shaping the atmosphere around them.

Whether you're battling for your spot in the final or simply there to soak up the energy and cheer on the dancers going for it, the Preselection offers a first glimpse into what makes OUT.LIERS unlike any other dance contest — art in movement, art in encounter, art created together.

About the Finale

After the intensity of the Preselection, the strongest dancers return to the floor for the Finale — the culmination of the Dance Battle at the Frei Art Festival. This is where the competitors who proved themselves worthy in the qualifying rounds go head-to-head one last time, raising the stakes and the energy in front of a crowd eager to see who takes the title.

Rooted in the culture of hip-hop, house, and freestyle, the Finale keeps the same spirit that defined the Preselection — musicality, originality, and respect for the cypher — but with the pressure and excitement turned all the way up. Dancers who have already shown their skill now push further, bringing their sharpest movement, boldest creativity, and strongest connection to the music, knowing every round from here counts double.

As much a celebration of the urban dance community as a competition, the Finale brings together dancers, judges, and audience in one shared moment of energy — cheering, responding, and reacting together as the battle unfolds. It's the payoff of everything built during the Preselection: the tension, the talent, and the culture that make battle culture what it is.
