Summer residences at Studio Pro Arte

As part of the Frei Art Festival 2025, Studio Pro Arte in Freiburg is awarding seven summer residencies to selected artists from Freiburg and the border triangle.

These residencies offer space for choreographic research, artistic exploration, and individual development – embedded in the professional infrastructure of Studio Pro Arte and with the prospect of networking with international festival participants.

The residency projects will open the Frei Art Festival with a joint showing on September 15, 2025.

The format is intended as a targeted promotion of the local and regional dance scene:
Artists receive time, space, and structural support – combined with visibility, exchange, and a long-term perspective.

The goals of the summer residencies at Studio Pro Arte: Strengthening the local scene through targeted work phases

Professional frameworks for research, creation, and testing

Presentation of works in the official festival program

Networking with international artists, curators, and partner institutions

Promoting sustainable, solidarity-based cultural practice in the region

The summer residencies are a core element of the festival concept:
They combine local engagement with international appeal and demonstrate the creative power of the region – when given space to flourish.
