Future Labs: Horizons — Performance
About the Project
Horizons brings together young dancers from Germany, France, and Morocco to train, exchange, and create an original performance together. Contemporary dance, urban styles, improvisation, and creative movement research meet international encounters, shared travel, and collective artistic work — over several months, an ensemble forms that crosses borders, discovers new perspectives, and shapes the future together.
The project unfolds in three phases: Connect, an initial gathering in Freiburg to train together and begin the creative process; Create, an intensive week of rehearsals and choreographic development in Vendenheim, France, working with international coaches; and Perform, a full festival week at the Frei Art Festival in Freiburg, where the group finalizes and presents their piece. Horizons is part of a wider international network spanning Germany, France, Morocco, and Laos, connecting young people with professional artists across countries and cultures.
About the Presentation
The culmination of Horizons is presented during the Frei Art Festival's festival week — the young ensemble takes the stage together with workshops, battles, and performances surrounding them, sharing the piece they built from the ground up over months of collective work. It's a showing not of a finished, pre-set production, but of a process — the discoveries, friendships, and artistic risks that emerged from an international group meeting, training, and creating side by side.
