Dance Workshop with Olé Khamchanla

Tuesday 8 September 2026

at Studio Pro Arte

10:00 - 12:30

About the Artist

Originally from Laos, Olé Khamchanla is a dancer and choreographer who grew up in France, developing a choreographic vocabulary freed from the codes of the dances he hybridizes — hip-hop, traditional, and contemporary.

In January 2010, he directed the first international dance festival in Laos, FANG MAE KHONG / FMK (Listen to the Mekong), co-organized by Fanglao Dance Company and his own company Kham, aiming to promote and facilitate the circulation of Southeast Asian artists while allowing exchange with European and international artists.

Since then, through the KHAM company he created in 2011, Olé Khamchanla has multiplied international cooperation actions across Asia — residencies, training, creations, and transmission — continuing to enrich his choreographic vocabulary and the circulation of cultures and works between France and the Asian region.

About the Workshop

Olé Khamchanla proposes to cross his singular vocabulary, forged from hip-hop dance — which he has been passionate about since childhood — from contemporary dance, which he learned from great choreographers, and from traditional dances from Laos and Thailand, where he is from.

Together, participants practice the multiple techniques of his language, exploring how to go beyond their codes and, through their crossbreeding, achieve a hybrid and undeniably organic contemporary writing.

Workshops play an important part in the choreographer's and company's work. From meeting to sharing, they weave special bonds where artists and participants enrich each other. With Kham, the workshop is practiced with a broad approach — a workshop sensitivity, a taste for different styles and movement. Workshops take very diverse forms depending on audiences and contexts. But everywhere and for everyone, there is a shared love of passing on this passion.
